26-27 Muirlands GATE Seminar Program Enrollment Instructions

GATE Seminar Enrollment Requirements
Students who are interested in being considered for placement in GATE Seminar for the
2027–2028 school year must submit an
Intent to Enroll Form by email to

August 10th, 2026 and no later than
May 16, 2027, at 4:00 p.m. Please note that GATE Seminar does not use rolling admissions. The timing of when the Intent to Enroll Form is submitted during the submission window does not impact the seating decision or give any student priority over another. Submitting an Intent to Enroll Form does not guarantee placement. All placements will be determined after the submission deadline and will be based solely on the student’s overall CogAT score. If your student is coming from outside of SDUSD or from private school and has never taken the CogAT, please submit alternative standardized assessment data for consideration.
Forms submitted after the deadline of May 16, 2027, at 4:00 p.m. may be considered for GATE Seminar placement for the 2027–2028 school year, pending availability of space.
STEP 1 - Complete this GATE Seminar Program Intent to Enroll form.
STEP 2 - Submit by email both the GATE Seminar Program Intent to Enroll form and your child's GATE Assessment Report, which states that your child was recommended for the GATE Seminar program, to [email protected]. You will receive an email confirming your submission. If you do not have a copy of your child’s GATE Assessment Report, one can be obtained from your child's current elementary school. Please keep a copy of all forms and email receipts for your records.
The following prioritization procedure will be implemented:
- La Jolla Cluster students: La Jolla Cluster includes students currently attending La Jolla Elementary, Bird Rock Elementary, or Torrey Pines Elementary schools, as well as students residing within Muirlands' attendance boundaries.
- Non-La Jolla Cluster students who are not currently attending one of Muirlands' Cluster elementary schools, i.e. La Jolla Elementary, Bird Rock Elementary, and Torrey Pines Elementary. These students must file a Neighborhood Schools & Enrollment Options Choice application. Submitting an application with Enrollment Options does NOT guarantee that your student is offered enrollment at Muirlands. Students are placed on a list and will be called in priority order consistent with space availability.
